1. Finally, pray brothers concerning us that the word of the Lord may run on and be glorified just as also [it has] with you.
2. And that we may be rescued from outrageous and evil men. For there is not faith for all men.
3. But the Lord is faithful Who strengthens you and guards you from evil [NOTE: or the 'evil one.'].
4. But we are convinced about you that what things we commanded, you both do it and will do it.
5. But may the Lord make your hearts straight to the love of God and to the perseverance of Christ.
6. But we command you brothers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for you to avoid every brother walking in an undisciplined way and not according to the tradition which you received from us.
7. For you yourselves know how it is necessary to imitate us because we did not act disorderly among you [NOTE: Paul uses the same cognate to describe their behavior.].
8. Neither freely did we eat bread from anyone, but in labor and in toil night and day working so as to not be a burden to any of you.
9. Not because we do not have authority, but that we may give ourselves as an example to you to imitate us.
10. For also when we were with you, we commanded this to you, "if anyone does not desire to work, he should not eat."
11. For we hear that some are living among you disorderly not working at all, but meddling in others' affairs.***
12. But to such ones we command and we exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ that they work with calmness that they may each their own bread.
13. But you brothers, do not lose courage doing good.
14. But if anyone does not listen to our word through this letter, take note of the one lest you associate with him that he be put to shame.
15. And do not consider him an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16. But may the Lord of peace Himself give to you peace through every thing and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
17. This is the greeting in my own hand, Paul, which is a sign in every letter, thus I write.
18. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you.
